Meet Pastor Mark Gorgans

Reverend Mark Gorgans is the Senior Pastor of Genesis CMA Church of  Myrtle Beach, SC. Born in Miami, Florida, he has moved pastoring churches in several states, and has planted a church in England. Mark has also served as church planting director for the Mid-Atlantic and Mid-America CMA districts.

Gorgans served the Christian & Missionay Alliance as a member of the district executive committee of five districts and as a member of the health and or planting committees of seven districts. One of Mark’s favorite roles has been serving on the ordination committees of three districts, both as a mentor and moderator.

Mark has a keen interest in the Christian Academy. He taught PED 151 for four years at Toccoa Falls College as a special instructor in martial arts. He also taught Bible Theology courses for the Moody Bible Institute, Northumbria Bible College in Berwick, England, and has been a visiting lecturer at Crown College in St. Bonafacious, Minnesota, New Castle College, England, and Moorlands College in Bournemouth, England.

Training future Christian leaders is near to Mark’s heart. He has equipped several interns for ministry from Toccoa Falls College and helped put together the original model for the internship program of Alliance Theological Seminary in Nyack, New York.

Currently Mark serves on the Presidents council of Trinity College in Trinity, Florida.  He also serves on the South Atlantic district executive committee of the Christian & Missionary Alliance based in Charlotte, NC.

Mark and his wife Joy have been married nearly 30 years. They have three adult children, one son-in-law, one grandchild, a cat and a dog. Mark comments, “My wife Joy is the very reflection of her name, she is my best friend and partner in ministry. God has gifted her with organizational skills and a great love for people, especially children. Joy has creativity, musical talent, and a great love for her Lord!”

Pastor Mark’s greatest passion is the teaching and preaching of God’s word. He attended Toccoa Falls College and Oxford University in England. Prior to Pastoring Genesis Church Myrtle Beach Mark was on the staff of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, serving as the regional manager of development.  

His life verse is Hebrews 4:12. “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitude of the heart.”
